IO3 In-service program of the project “PAST-TIMES”
From the 26th of May to the 1st of June the in-service programme of the project “PAST-TIMES” took place online, focusing on media competencies and digital tools for intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. The main objective of the PAST-TIMES project is to address three of the biggest challenges in Europe: its ageing population, the rise of racism and intolerance, and the current significant influx of migrants.
During the online training the participants, who were adult education trainers and migrant support workers had the opportunity to learn about story telling, how to create a video interview so as to video record stories from elderly people and therefore learn about the history of Europe through oral history, to create a blog, to learn what WebQuests are how they can encourage interactive learning so as to engage young migrants and active retirees in intergenerational activities that develop their digital and communication skills, critical thinking, and enrich the knowledge of young migrants concerning the history and different cultures of Europe in the 20th century.
Furthermore, the online training included 3 days of self-directed learning through the use of the e-learning platform of PAST-TIMES which encouraged the participants to explore in-depth the learning materials that support the integration of young migrants into their new host country by building the civic, social and cultural awareness and the active ageing of seniors through intergenerational learning activities in which young migrants and active retirees are involved. During these 3-days of self-directed learning, the participants practiced on producing a video interview.
JKPeV and in particular the trainer, Claudio Orlacchio would like to thank all the participants for their active involvement and their mastering of the challenges during the online training.
