Compass for Climate Chaos: Empowering Youth to Tackle Climate Anxiety in Denmark with CALM-EY project!
From June 20th to 24th, the “Compass for Climate Chaos” camp took place in Denmark as part of the Calm-ey project, which aims to address climate anxiety among youth and young adults. Participants from Germany, Estonia, Malta and Denmark gathered in the idyllic Regstrup, united by a reflective and regenerative group process based on “The Work That Reconnects” by Joanna Macy.
Throughout this journey, participants explored their emotions and concerns for the Earth, discovering renewed strength and a sense of purpose for positive action and engagement. Thanks to the communal setting and experts’ guidance, participants were led through a journey that began with reconnecting with nature, acknowledging and accepting their worries to gain a fresh perspective and practice gratitude for the Earth. This process allowed them to finally see with new eyes and move forward.
The implementation of projects and activities that address the psychological effects of climate change, such as climate worry, is crucial. This global phenomenon should be viewed as a collective issue and can’t stay unheard. Therefore, the remedies to combat it must also be community-based. This approach helps us relate to and view nature with gratitude, taking a more active role in its well-being.
