Looking back on yesterday’s FORUM JÜDISCHES LEBEN IN SACHSEN SICHTBAR MACHEN at the KulturCentrale
How can we make Jewish life tangible and experienceable for young people? How can Jewish culture be integrated into everyday school life, and what methods support young people in their commitment against racism and anti-Semitism? These and other questions were the focus of an inspiring exchange in which local organizations and experts came together to develop solutions and ideas.
We were delighted to welcome Dr. Elke Preusser-Franke, board member of the ‘Jüdischen Frauenverein’, Dr. Sebastian Meyer-Stork, board member of the ‘Gesellschaft für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit Dresden e. V.’, Anja Epperlein, project coordinator of the Goethe-Institut, a committed teacher at the ‘IBB Gesamtschule Dresden’, Rabbi Akiva Weingarten of the Landesverband Jüdischer Gemeinden und Einrichtungen Sachsen e.V., and Anna Glazova of the Jüdische Gemeinde zu Dresden. They all presented their valuable work and projects.
As Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V., we presented our projects “Jüdisches Leben in Sachsen sichtbar machen”, in which we are active in educational workshops in schools in saxony, and Ich wand‘re durch Theresienstadt.
In-depth discussions on the topic “Making Jewish culture sustainably visible in the school context” focused on creative approaches to bringing Jewish history and culture to life for students outside the regular curriculum – for example, through interactive games, oral history and participatory methods.
A big thank you to all participants who, through their commitment, made this conference an enriching experience! Together, we are committed to keeping Jewish life in all its diversity and history alive in the school context.
