World Café NAHNU

World Café NAHNU took place within the framework of the international project MOOC4EU.
This project tackles a highly political issue; refugee integration. Ever more refugees and migrants arrive in Europe and Germany due to war in their countries; they flee, arriving in a new place that is completely foreign to them and have to learn to adapt themselves to the new rules, cultures and also languages.
For this reason Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. decided to create and organise an event in order to help refugees and migrants better understand European cultures and support them in their transition, and vice versa, to bring an understanding to the natives of Dresden through discussion of their new neighbours and of their culture.
It will further be an opportunity for all attending to meet new people from different countries, Germans and refugees.
The event is called “World Café NAHNU”!
The aim of our project is to circulate everyone’s experiences and to get to know each other’s culture. For this, there will first be a guided visit at the exhibition ‘WIR-WE-NAHNU’ at the Dresden City Art Gallery inside the Stadt Museum of Dresden.
In this exhibition the artists are refugees and immigrants from all over the world. They are from several countries such as Eritrea, Lebanon, Syria and Iran but also from Mexico, Russia etc. Their aim was to express the everyday life in their homeland or in Germany through their art. After the tour, the artists will also join our ‘World Café NAHNU’.
This event will be completely free for all participants: As places are limited, we would ask you to register to be sure to be able to participate in our international project.
The MOOC 4 EU
MOOC 4 EU (Minorités, Orientations, Outils, Coopération pour un Dialogue Européen) is an international project funded by the European Commission through the Europe for Citizens programme which lays its focus on cultural, religious and ethnic minorities in Europe and more specifically on minorities in France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Romania Slovakia and Spain. Through research, discussions and the exchange of experiences the current situation of minorities, the minorities’ rights and their coexistence with the citizens of the countries they live in, will be examined. Moreover, how actively these minorities are involved in their local communities and in the European Union’s civil society will be also discussed. The main aim of the MOOC project is to promote EU citizenship, European values such as democracy, understanding, equality, acceptance and the freedom of expression. By presenting the history, culture, traditions and customs of certain minorities on which the project focuses on, the people involved in this project and the citizens of the partner countries will have the opportunity to learn more about the origins and traditions of certain minorities while also understand the difficulties and challenges they encounter in order to be accepted, respected and integrated into the local and the European society. Moreover, intercultural dialogue and cultural exchange will be achieved by inviting the minorities to participate in the events of the project and learn about their rights and how they can actively participate in the European civil society. For this reason, local and transnational events have been scheduled:
