Urban Decolonisation Walk & Abendprogramm

15:00 – 16:30 | Urban Decolonisation Walk

Die Veranstaltung beginnt mit einem geführten Urban Decolonisation Walk (Städtischer Dekolonisations-Rundgang) durch ausgewählte Orte in Dresden. Gemeinsam erkunden wir kritisch Denkmäler und Orte, die mit kolonialen Geschichten und Machtverhältnissen verbunden sind.

Mithilfe von Methoden der non-formalen Bildung — geführte Beobachtungen, Fragen, künstlerische Ansätze und kollektive Reflexion — werden die Teilnehmenden eingeladen, verborgene Narrative zu entdecken, dominante historische Darstellungen zu hinterfragen und zu reflektieren, wessen Geschichten im öffentlichen Raum sichtbar sind und wessen fehlen.

17:00 – 20:00 | Blaue Fabrik – Getränke & Snacks, Konferenz & Aktivitäten
Nach dem Rundgang treffen wir uns in der Blauen Fabrik in entspannter Atmosphäre bei Essen und Getränken, um Raum für Austausch, Vernetzung und Diskussion zu schaffen.

Raum 1: Länder-Ecken

Die Länder-Ecken bieten eine interaktive Reise durch städtische Dekolonisations-Erfahrungen in Italien, Belgien, Spanien und Deutschland.

Jede Ecke präsentiert visuelle Materialien von lokalen Dekolonisations-Rundgängen — Fotografien, Karten und Teilnehmer*innen-Reflexionen — sowie kurze Einblicke in die koloniale Geschichte jedes Landes und ihre Spuren in heutigen urbanen Räumen.
Durch Quizze, Reflexionsfragen und kurze, informelle Präsentationen werden die Teilnehmenden aktiv eingeladen, sich mit unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und Kontexten auseinanderzusetzen.

Raum 2: Konferenz

„Die Stadt ist nicht neutral: Wessen Stadt, wessen Geschichte?“

Diese partizipative Konferenz schafft einen gemeinsamen Raum, um zu reflektieren, wie die koloniale Vergangenheit Europas weiterhin Städte, öffentliche Erinnerung, Narrative und den Alltag prägt.
Nach einer kurzen Einführung in das Projekt Urban Decolonisation Walks werden Sprecher*innen aus allen vier Partnerländern ihre Perspektiven in interaktiven und partizipativen Formaten teilen.

Anstelle traditioneller Vorträge lädt die Konferenz zu kollektiver Reflexion über den urbanen Raum als Ort von Erinnerung, Macht und Möglichkeiten ein.

20:00 | Konzert – Banda Comunale

Der Abend endet mit einem Konzert der Banda Comunale, einer bekannten Brassband aus Dresden. Gegründet 2001, vereint die Band Musiker*innen aus neun Ländern und bezieht klar Stellung gegen Rassismus, Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Rechtspopulismus.

Sie sind auch für das Projekt Banda Internationale bekannt, das lokale Musiker*innen und Geflüchtete zusammenbrachte und ihr starkes soziales und kulturelles Engagement durch Musik fortsetzt.

Urban Decolonisation Walk & Evening Program

15:00 – 16:30 | Urban Decolonisation Walk
The event begins with a guided Urban Decolonisation Walk through selected sites in Dresden. Together, we will critically explore monuments and places connected to colonial histories and power relations.

Using non-formal education methods — guided observation, questions, artistic approaches, and collective reflection — participants are invited to uncover hidden narratives, question dominant historical representations, and reflect on whose histories are visible (and whose are missing) in public space.

17:00 – 20:00 | Blaue Fabrik – Refreshments, Conference & Activities
After the walk, we gather at Blaue Fabrik in a relaxed atmosphere with food and drinks, creating space for exchange, networking, and discussion.

Room 1: Country Corners

The Country Corners offer an interactive journey through urban decolonisation experiences in Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Germany.

Each corner presents visual materials from local decolonisation walks — photographs, maps, and participant reflections — alongside short insights into each country’s colonial history and its traces in today’s urban spaces.
Through quizzes, reflection prompts, and short informal presentations, participants are encouraged to actively engage with different perspectives and contexts.

Room 2: Conference

“The City Is Not Neutral: Whose City, Whose Story?”

This participatory conference creates a shared space to reflect on how Europe’s colonial past continues to shape cities, public memory, narratives, and everyday life.
After a short introduction to the Urban Decolonisation Walks project, speakers from all four partner countries will share their perspectives using interactive and participatory formats.

Rather than traditional lectures, the conference invites collective reflection on urban space as a site of memory, power, and possibility.

20:00 | Concert Banda Comunale
The evening concludes with a concert by Banda Comunale, a well-known brass band from Dresden. Founded in 2001, the band brings together musicians from nine countries and takes a clear stance against racism, xenophobia, and right-wing populism.

They are also known for Banda Internationale, a project that united local musicians and refugees, continuing their strong social and cultural engagement through music.
