Wie prägt koloniale Geschichte noch heute unsere Städte?
Welche Geschichten sind sichtbar – und welche fehlen?
Und wie können wir Stadt gemeinsam neu denken?

 

Am 26. und 27. Februar lädt das transnationale Event „From Colonial Past to Inclusive Future“ in Dresden dazu ein, urbane Räume neu zu entdecken, Perspektiven auszutauschen und gemeinsam an einer inklusiven Stadtgesellschaft zu arbeiten.

Die zweitägige Veranstaltung ist Teil des europäischen Projekts UDEW – Urban Decolonisation Walks in the EU und richtet sich an junge Menschen, Engagierte aus der Nachbarschaft, Initiativen, Kulturschaffende, Bildungsakteur*innen sowie alle Interessierten, die sich mit Stadt, Geschichte und gesellschaftlichem Zusammenhalt auseinandersetzen möchten.

Euch erwartet eine Mischung aus Stadtrundgang, Austauschformaten, kreativen Workshops, Film, Diskussion und Musik. Offen, niedrigschwellig und lebendig – mit Raum für Begegnung, neue Perspektiven und gemeinsame Reflexion.

Stadtrundgang „Urban Decolonisation“ – Stadt, Geschichte & Perspektiven

Gemeinsam gehen wir durch Dresden und schauen genauer hin: Auf Orte, Geschichten und Spuren, die oft übersehen werden. Was erzählen Denkmäler und Straßennamen? Und was bleibt unsichtbar?

Bei einem gemeinsamen Stadtspaziergang laden wir euch ein, zuzuhören, nachzufragen und neue Perspektiven zu entdecken. Der Rundgang ist offen, dialogisch und lebt vom Austausch – ganz ohne Vorwissen.

Ein Rundgang über Geschichte, Macht und Erinnerung. Und darüber, wie wir Stadt heute gemeinsam neu denken können.

Koloniale Spurensuche in Dresden/Europa: Länderecken & Runder Tisch 

Länderecken – Urbane Perspektiven aus Europa

In unseren interaktiven Länderecken nehmen euch Projektpartner aus Deutschland, Belgien, Spanien und Italien mit auf eine Reise durch unterschiedliche Städte und ihre kolonialen Spuren. Anhand von Fotos, Karten und Eindrücken aus lokalen Stadtspaziergängen bekommt ihr Einblicke in die jeweiligen Kontexte und Herausforderungen urbaner Dekolonisierung.

Kurze Inputs, kleine Quizformate und Gesprächsimpulse laden dazu ein, Vergleiche zu ziehen, Fragen zu stellen und eigene Perspektiven einzubringen.
Ein offener Raum zum Entdecken, Austauschen und gemeinsamen Nachdenken darüber, wie Geschichte in unseren Städten sichtbar wird – oder unsichtbar bleibt.

Runder Tisch – „The City is not neutral – whose city, whose story?“

Wie wirkt koloniale Geschichte bis heute in unseren Städten nach?
Wessen Geschichten prägen den öffentlichen Raum – und wer kommt kaum zu Wort?

Beim Runden Tisch kommen Projektpartner, zivilgesellschaftliche Initiativen sowie Akteur*innen aus den Bereichen Migration, Bildung und Demokratiearbeit zusammen – gemeinsam mit jungen Menschen, Interessierten aus der Nachbarschaft und allen, die Lust haben mitzudenken und mitzudiskutieren. So entsteht ein offener Raum für Austausch auf Augenhöhe, in dem unterschiedliche Erfahrungen, Perspektiven und Fragen zusammenfließen.

Statt klassischer Vorträge steht der Dialog im Mittelpunkt: offen, interaktiv und praxisnah.

Konzert mit Banda Comunale

Den Abend beschließt die Banda Comunale, eine international besetzte Brassband aus Dresden, die seit vielen Jahren für Vielfalt, Solidarität und gegen Rassismus steht.
Mit ihrer energiegeladenen Musik verbindet sie politische Haltung mit guter Stimmung – ein starkes Zeichen für kulturelle Vielfalt und Zusammenhalt.

Wer zuvor am Stadtrundgang „Urban Decolonisation” oder am Runden Tisch & den Länderecken teilgenommen hat, erhält freien Eintritt zum Konzert!

On February 26 and 27, the transnational event “From Colonial Past to Inclusive Future” in Dresden invites you to rediscover urban spaces, exchange perspectives, and work together towards an inclusive urban society.

This two-day event is part of the European project UDEW – Urban Decolonisation Walks in the EU and is aimed at young people, engaged community members, initiatives, cultural practitioners, educators, and anyone interested in exploring the city, history, and social cohesion.

You can expect a mix of city tours, discussion formats, creative workshops, films, debates, and music. Open, accessible, and lively – offering space for encounters, new perspectives, and shared reflection.

Together, we’ll walk through Dresden and take a closer look at places, stories, and traces that are often overlooked. What do monuments and street names tell us? And what remains invisible?

During this city walk, we invite you to listen, ask questions, and discover new perspectives. The tour is open, dialogic, and thrives on exchange – no prior knowledge required.

A walk through history, power, and memory – and an exploration of how we can reimagine the city together today.

Exploring Colonial Traces in Dresden/Europe: Country Corners & Roundtable 

Country Corners – Urban Perspectives from Europe

In our interactive Country Corners, project partners from Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Italy will take you on a journey through different cities and their colonial traces. Using photos, maps, and insights from local city walks, you’ll gain an understanding of the specific contexts and challenges of urban decolonisation.

Short inputs, mini quizzes, and discussion prompts invite you to make comparisons, ask questions, and share your own perspectives.
An open space to explore, exchange ideas, and reflect together on how history becomes visible – or remains invisible – in our cities.

Roundtable – „The City is not neutral – whose city, whose story?“

How does colonial history continue to shape our cities today?
Whose stories shape public spaces – and who hardly gets a voice?

At the Roundtable, project partners, civil society initiatives, and actors from the fields of migration, education, and democracy work come together – alongside young people, local residents, and anyone interested in thinking and discussing together. This creates an open space for exchange on equal footing, where diverse experiences, perspectives, and questions come together.Instead of traditional lectures, the focus is on dialogue: open, interactive, and hands-on.

Concert with Banda Comunale

The evening will be closed by Banda Comunale, an internationally composed brass band from Dresden that has been promoting diversity, solidarity, and standing against racism for many years.
With their energetic music, they combine political commitment with a great atmosphere – a powerful statement for cultural diversity and community.

Those who have previously participated in the “Urban Decolonisation Walk” or the Roundtable & Country Corners will receive free entry to the concert!
