Today we went to the Johannstädter Kulturtreff e.V. to hold a workshop on digitalisation with senior citizens as part of our Einfach.Zeitlos.Digital project.

The Einfach.Zeitlos.Digital! project, which is funded by the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering, aims to show senior citizens apps and digital tools and make it easier for them to use them in their everyday lives.

Although almost all senior citizens today own smartphones or tablets, they are not yet familiar with some of their functions. Nevertheless, these digital devices have become an everyday tool.

This round of introductions today was an opportunity to get to know 26 senior citizens from Ukraine and talk about their concerns. We talked about digitalisation, its benefits, but also the hurdles.

“How can I find German news in my native language?”; “Where can I find out about my rights and laws in Germany?” or “Which apps can I use to find my way around the city?”

These are all questions that we will answer with a practical insight at our next workshop on Friday at Johannstädter Kulturtreff e.V.
