On 14 March 2025, the LET’S SHARE ONE UMBRELLA networking event took place at the KulturCentrale Dresden. Under the motto ‘Strengthening art, culture and education together’, numerous stakeholders from the fields of art, culture and education came together to network, present innovative projects and develop joint solutions to current social challenges.

Media Democracy Hub – media literacy for a strong democracy

One of the event highlights was the presentation of the Media Democracy Hub project (https://e-learning.jkpev.de/), which is committed to strengthening media literacy and promoting democratic participation. At a time when disinformation and fake news are an increasing threat to democratic processes, the Media Democracy Hub offers workshops, online resources and interactive learning formats to raise people’s awareness of how to deal critically with digital media.

During the project presentations, participants were given exciting insights into the work of the Media Democracy Hub. Among other things, the discussion covered questions such as:

• How can we effectively recognise disinformation and critically question it?
• What role do social media play in promoting or threatening democratic processes?
• How can media literacy be sustainably anchored in society?

Exchange and networking

In addition to the inspiring keynotes, project presentations and thematic working groups, the event offered plenty of opportunities for exchange and for initiating new collaborations. The numerous discussions showed how important it is to strengthen interdisciplinary networks in order to actively shape social change.
