On Friday, 18.09.2026, the JKPeV team, Jakob Kade and Lea Heeren spent a project day with a 9th-grade class at Semper Oberschule Dresden, and we are still thrilled! Using non-formal learning methods, the students explored Jewish history and Jewish life with great motivation, openness, curiosity, and seriousness.

Inspired by the Jewish stories and life experiences they discovered, they learned comic and graphic novel techniques – from storytelling and characters to panels and visual composition – and started designing their own graphic novels.

The results are impressive works full of ideas, sensitivity, and creativity. Selected comics will be presented after the closing of the competition at an award ceremony. The date will be announced!

Many thanks to the class for their wonderful commitment, and to the teachers and Semper Oberschule for the great collaboration and their trust.

Next week, our final workshop is coming up. We’re really looking forward to wrapping up the workshop series together with one more class!
